Entrepreneurship for Ex-offenders

Occupational and vocational training programs-to successfully reintegrate into society

Appliance University approach is to help ex-offenders repurpose street skills in ways that enable self-employment in appliance service and HVAC/R industry. Employment reduces recidivism among formerly incarcerated men and women.[1] Ex-offenders who are unable to find work are three to five times more likely to commit another crime than are those who find employment.[2] Beyond providing a paycheck, employment builds work experience, expands skills, and gives the former prisoner a chance to successfully reintegrate into society. Occupational and vocational training programs help inmate to Re-Entry into the Mainstream Labor Market.

Vocational  education programs are also offered at several institutions to provide training  so that upon release, inmates can find employment in trades. Cut recidivism by only 10%, we'll save more than $62 billion a year, money we now pour down the national drain.
